The Questions From my Nomination:
1. Why did you start blogging?
When I was little and my anxiety and mood disorders were first emerging, I felt very lost and alone. Nobody was talking about mental health back then, and I felt scared and ashamed of what was going on inside me.
I recall wishing for someone who had experienced the same things as me to sweep in and guide me and tell me I wasn’t alone. So I started blogging to be that person for others.
I feel like I have experienced so much and learned so much about mental health not just personally but also through others and my background in Social Work, and I just wanted to share all the knowledge with others.
2. Are you a cat or a dog person?
I’m an every animal type of person! Ever since I was a child I’ve felt calmer when surrounded by animals and nature, so I really can’t say I prefer one over the other. I currently have 2 dogs and have never had a cat, but I really want one.
I think that I’m more like a cat than a dog, but I still adore dogs with all my heart.
So my answer is both and everything in between!
3. What country is at the top of your bucket list and why?
This is hard because I haven’t travelled much so I have a lot of options to pick from. However, my gut reaction was Japan so I’ll go with that.
The reasons for that are that I think Tokyo would be really interesting to experience because it’s always so busy. I’ve also heard that the smaller cities in the country side are be very beautiful.
Also, Japanese food is my favourite type of cuisine on the planet so I’d likely be spending most of my trip just eating, but I’m perfectly okay with that.
4. Do you collect anything from your travels?
I have no pattern of collections because I usually just go with whatever gravitates to me as long as it’s small enough that I can bring back. But generally speaking I tend to be drawn to pieces of art, unique knickknacks and fun frames.
5. Do you speak any other languages?
Yeah!
On top of English I also speak Bulgarian, French, and Spanish. I can also understand bits of other Slavic languages and I can read the Korean alphabet but I can’t speak it so I don’t really count it.
6. What is your favourite book?
I’ve never had a favourite book in my entire life because I like so many that I can’t pick.
My genre preference is also all over the place so it’s not easy to pin anything down. I will however give a shout out to Goosebumps because I’ve read every book in that entire series and it will forever remain iconic in my mind.
7. If you had a chance to change anything in the world what would it be?
As a Social Work student and a person who has always been a big advocate for a million different causes, I really can’t just pick one thing. Lock up the world’s richest 1% and disperse their money and resources to those who actually need it.
8. How has your blogging journey changed your life?
Aside from the general concept that now I have a blog that I take care of as if it’s my baby, I think blogging has helped me tap into a part of myself I’ve lost over the years.
I’ve always loved writing and being creative, but I let all that go because of how demanding work and school was and expectations that had been set up for me.
Getting to play around with themes, colours, logos, and writing blog posts has allowed me to bring that part of myself back. And now that bleeds into the rest of my world outside of blogging and I’m really happy about it.
9. If you can describe yourself in three words what would they be?
The first words that come to mind are smart, creative and kind.
10. What was your favourite subject in school?
I’m gonna sound like a big old nerd but I loved every subject with the exception of math (I hate it with all my being). I enjoyed English, science, arts, languages, gym, history, geography, everything!
I just love learning in general so I was happy going into any class.
11. What is your biggest dream?
To have such a successful professional career both in Social Work and with my blog that I can financially take care of those around me, give back to others, and create projects that will help animals, people and our planet. I’m just a lame old humanitarian to my core.
